FAQs

 What does it feel like?

Often referred to as "the lovechild between cotton and silk," our vegan silk feels super soft and has a luxurious sheen. Our fabric is extremely smooth and gentle on the skin, perfect for people with sensitive skin. Only feathery softness for the perfect night of sleep.

Do you use any chemicals?

We only use safe, non-toxic chemicals in the production of our fabric.  This ensures the manufacturing process avoids polluting air and water emissions, as well as avoids using catalytic agents which create strong unpleasant odours. It is also worth noting that because of the nature of the material, bleach is never required in the processing.

Does it smell like eucalyptus?

Our pillowcases are completely unscented. Our production process utilizes the wood pulp, and therefore doesn't leave any oil remnants from the leaves. Our vegan silk is unscented so it’s non-irritating and hypoallergenic, therefore it’s safe for people with sensitive skin or allergies.

How do I wash my pillowcase?

  1. Be sure to always wash your pillowcase in cold water and on a gentle cycle
  2. Use a mild (preferably biodegradable) detergent to avoid damaging or wearing away the fabric
  3. Wash separate from other laundry to avoid getting hooked on to zippers or latches, which can cause pilling.
  4. Avoid bleach, because it will wear away at the sheets. Fabric softener is not necessary since our fabric is already super soft!
  5. When possible, let your pillowcase dry naturally in order to help preserve the fibres and colour. However, if you don’t have the option of naturally line drying, you can use a dryer – just be sure to choose the low heat and low tumble option.

Why should I choose touché over other pillowcases on the market?

All traditional silk pillowcases available on the market are produced using cruel techniques. Silk production boils silkworms alive so that the silk cocoons can be harvested before the moths are able to fly away. This cruel method prevents damaging the silk strands as the moths emerge.

Approximately 6,600 silkworms are killed in the making of every kilogram of silk. We offer an eco-friendly alternative using TENCEL™ fibres which have been certified cruelty-free and certified vegan-friendly by PETA.
